So I went out Monday the 18th and did a 35 mile ride on my cross bike. I was down in Kuna heading back to my In laws home in Boise and saw a sign on the side of the road for a trail. I looked it over and it was the Hubbard Wildlife reserve. I thought to myself, good thing I brought a cross bike. Jumped the gate and away I went. It was the roughest single track in the world. You might want to bring a mouth guard to ride it. However it was a lot of fun. I explored for only a few minutes because I needed to be heading back. The trail takes you from Deer Flat road up to Hubbard road.
I have been ridding a road bike now for near 6 years. I have done many of the Epics around here but have never done the one most talked about. Well Saturday I decided to headout for the longest ride of the year for me. I was glad Eric and Ladd were dumb enough to go with me.
I am glad I went up to Bogus yesterday morning. The sky was clear and the trails were amazing. I think it will be the last time for me but if you can get up there before the snow comes it is awesome right now. I went with Paul and we just road the trails right there on Bogus. Took a nice hiking detour due to us totally missing the trail. We decided to just walk strait up until we hit a trail. We got onto Deer Point and climbed to the lower section of the Face. We decided to head around the back but soon found out it would be a little too snowy since there is never any sun.
Rob, Tim, and I went up for an early MTB ride today. It was an awesome time to ride. The weather was cool but not too cold. We all over dressed and ended up taking layers off once we got to Corals trail head. Our place was to head up Corals to Scotts, then up to 4 and over to 5 mile creek. However, Tim had never done that little loop right off of Hardguy and Corals. So we decided to head up there. When we got down to the downhill section we noticed a trail that headed up to the right and continues up the mountain. We decided to take one for the team and check it out.
Holy crap that race was huge. The race was fun and I was lucky enough to be in the middle of the start group. The whistle went off and away we went. It was a fast and crowded field (80-90 people). I took the 1st lap with the group and moved up slowly just trying to get my bearings on this course. Once we got into the 2nd lap I started my attacks and moving up. It was hard to move up. The fast path was really skinny and the rest of the lanes were really rough and hard to gain speed. So I choose my places of moving carefully and went all out on each one.
