Boise to Lowman!

ladd's picture

This ride has been mentioned here: http://treasurevalleycycling.com/content/state-rr-preview-video, but I didn't want it to get lost.

Saturday, August 6th, Brad, Dan, Eric, and I will be riding to Lowman to start the 2012 Ride Idaho. (Basically the first 4 stages of LP, plus a little bit.) Everybody is welcome! Those signed up for Lotaja are almost REQUIRED.

Jenny will be heading up there to drop off our bags, so she can easily give folks a lift home. Thus, this will be the coolest group ride yet!

We haven't really talked about a start time, but I think we'd want to be on the road by at least 8:00. (But with this crew, I wouldn't be surprised at a 6:00 start).

UPDATE: talking about a 6:30 HC start, meeting at Brad's at 7:00

Fun / No Go

Sorry I don't ride more than 1 hour so I am out. Way to long and way to much climbing.

eric's picture

What?

This is unacceptable from somebody who used to be such a successful and competitive category 3 racer. ;) We could call this a cat 6 event if you like. (heard Kurt was quite the heckler on Sat)

harrismc's picture

Ya

He was a heckler. I didn't hear any of it. I was too busy dieing. All I could hear was my gasping for air. See it did give me motivation to get ready for cross. That time is around the corner.

In for short version

Anyone up for a shortened version riding to Hilltop and back? I heard Charise may be game. Harris, how about it?

Option 7

Come race with me in the Elmore County RR. I'll be Renshaw, you be Cavendish! It has really low entry and looks to be a ton of fun. Sign-ups are closing soon. Does anyone race anymore?

eric's picture

Racin

Ya, we still race yo! Guess you didn't hear that Rob won the Cycle for Independence? ;)

Also, Aug 6th is the Boise to Lowman ride (also state champs). Elmore RR is this weekend.

Chris's picture

Let's go!

I am calling Y'all out. Come race Elmore this weekend! 40 miles, cheap race. Get on my wheel.

harrismc's picture

Interesting

I might be in. (which most of you know that means no) However we are moving into our new home Thursday the 4th so that might is a small amount but I like the idea and will see what I can do. I would probably just drive down and meet you at your house.

eric's picture

So, who's in?

90 miles... 7k feet... 90° weather... what's not to love here?

Brad's picture

Harris, you really missed

Harris, you really missed out. I especially liked puking up my breakfast burrito in my mouth a few times on the way up the last two summit's going into Lowman :).

ladd's picture

Meet at 7:00 at Brad's?

How does that sound? Anybody ready to ride, we'll converge on Brad's house at 7:00. (So leaving HC around 6:30)

Infinite route options. Nate mentioned something about a Hilltop and back. For those wanting to do the whole 90, make sure I know so that Jenny will take up a big enough rig for you and your gear. Who's up for that? I think I've heard Jason and Terry are in. Rob and Eric? Tony? Don? Who else is in?

eric's picture

It's a plan

Let's be rolling from HC by 6:30.

Anybody who's coming and wants to have clothes to change into for the return drive (or FOOD) needs to drop it off at Ladd's on Friday night. The rig Jenny's driving will be packed, off-site and unaccessible by Sat morning, FYI.

TDeeble's picture

In

Yeah, I'm in. Gonna be brutal but lotoja is no walk in the park either.

TDeeble's picture

Change of plans for me

My dad has had an emergency with a contract out of town that he needs me to take care of, so I will be gone all day saturday. I hope to do a big ride tomorrow if anyone wants to join me. Im flexible as far as ride times go.

rob deeble's picture

Part way option

Matt, Don L., Tony, Steve O, anyone else interested in going part way with the crew and then returning? Steve L. and Fred M. May want to join up and come.

m1mckinlay's picture

Maybe in for 40?

Sounds fun! I'll play domestique for the group up to the dam, but will need to turn around at that point. I've got the inlaws in town. . .

harrismc's picture

PAIN LOTS OF PAIN

Whenever Matt wants to ride shorter than anybody else he drive the pace so he is as tired when he gets home as everyone else is after they have ridden 100 miles. Good luck all of you.

eric's picture

Matt's Pain Train

We'll keep him dialed in for ya Harris... come and join us!

See... the answer is to let Matt turn around alone at the dam to pound his way home at 30mph solo. If you kept going with us to hill-top, and even if you rode all the way home alone from there, it'd prob still be less work than trying to hang on that wheel of his.

Tony's picture

I'm in for the dam

So we are meeting where at 6:30? I am in for part of it - will probably turn around with Matt so I can come home for my continued work out in the yard - wedding preparations, what fun.
