So I have been thinking lately about how we can keep improving our cross course we do out in Eagle Island. So I would like to start a brain storming idea. I know we will need for one race the Wheel of Death but is there any other fun ideas? I would like to try for one race not to go behind the lake, but not sure we can do that without have major toss and turn course. Anyways give me your ideas.
I've always thought we could
I've always thought we could do a better job incorporating the waterslide. With or without the water.
Ideas
You might remember, we discussed last year adding a one lap Individual Time Trial to one of the days (2nd event?) that would follow ALL the races but offer EICX series points. No additional cost or set up, $5 per for more points. 30 second gaps and the entire event is over in 1 hour. The course would be mudded up already, and could be really fun.
• Jerseys for CAT Leaders worn each week.
• Using water-slide hill.
• Using the field again, like in the early days. (BC, before Chris)
• A narrow beach passage that could result in water.
• Using the field to the East just off the trail where there is a depression that holds water (see map, right side)
• Using a couple of 270* hairpins would be fun.
• A triple/quad moon shaped element where you travel in an arch all the way across the East grassy area (location of the wheel) then turn hard and arch all the way back across, and then back again. Fun for spectators and riders, high speeds, tiny turns.
• Direction changes in the sand (what am I saying?)
• More opportunities for mud and water, that don't damage the regular grass.
• One consideration for easing registration, online sign-up and mail out numbers. Still, day of registration but consider selling a season pass (one number) for SICX and EICX.
We have the perfect place for the states coolest cross events!
Also, I will be making a promo video to encourage people to come out.
use the natural features at EI
Meaning disc golf, of course! A racer gets a 20 second bonus for each disc that they can put in the catcher while riding.
New Ideas
I love them, some of them are not practical but love the thought going into it all. My thoughts after comments.
Waterslide usage: We finally received approval on this late last year, agree we need to use that hill and change the entrance a bit to make it fit.
Frisbee golf: Sorry Ladd, not up for that too much. Maybe for fun though.

Too many thorns, asking for flat tires like crazy.
• A narrow beach passage that could result in water.
Would be up for this for sure.

Thorns again, we used this in the past, lots of flat tires.
• Using a couple of 270* hairpins would be fun.
Agree

Isn't this what we have when we do not have the wheel out there? Maybe need more clarification for my visual.
• Direction changes in the sand (what am I saying?)
We had a couple 90 degrees in there in a few races, agree like that aspect and want to do it more.
• More opportunities for mud and water, that don't damage the regular grass.
Definitely up for this, any ideas where would be appreciated.
• One consideration for easing registration, online sign-up and mail out numbers. Still, day of registration but consider selling a season pass (one number) for SICX and EICX.
No interested, costs you and me more of the very little $ involved and do not want to raise the entry fees to cover this. Not getting much involvement from the Broken Spokes guys, in fact they didn't even request or ask to include an Eagle Island race in the overall series, I was disappointed in this.
When are we going to start meeting out there on Thursday nights for training?
