Thoughts

Yeah, does look really cool... I wonder why they switched it over to a Look pedal. Metrigear had prototypes built into speedplay when Garmin bought them. Also, the electronic pod type thing hang out in space off the pedal spindle looks a bit crazy to me. The prototypes had that slim-lined into a halfmoon type thing right up against the arm before. It's cool Garmin's actually going to make it all happen though, Metrigear was shooting for $999 price point before Garmin took over too. At least Garmin stuff can usually be found below MSRP on ebay, etc.

The best part of the stuff I'm reading is that they say that they've now adopted the power metrics from TrainingPeaks™... namely Normalized Power (NP ™), Intensity Factor (IF ™) and Training Stress Score (TSS ™) right in the Garmin devices. I ASSUME this means I'm going to get a firmware update in my 500 soon to display NP, IF & TSS right on the screen which would be beyond cool. I sure hope they don't have it locked down where as only the their own pedals would provide this information. All in all, great to have another option and some direct competition.

Very Cool

Even more interested now that it isn't in a Speedplay format anymore :).
