Inside Ride

Well, it finally happened. I won a race. it wasn't a real race, mind you, but details like that and never stopped me. On Saturday at the sixth annual St. Alphonsus Inside Ride, a group of garage rats and I managed to put down a total of 98.95 miles in one hour. Of course it was on trainers, without headwind, and directly across from Victoria's Secret, but we managed to be the only group to put down that kind of distance.

This group of neighborhood regulars has been spinning together in my garage since October as a means of trying to maintain some fitness, reduce holiday weight, and motivate ourselves for the upcoming season. We have been spinning Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings at 6 AM as well as Tuesday and Thursday nights at 9 PM. We've been using the Suffer-fest video series to stay motivated. I would highly recommend it! The videos are download only and contain footage from UCI events along with a pretty cool soundtrack. I encourage you to check them out.

For the win we each received a $25 gift certificate and all the Powerbar stuff we could fit in our pockets. I've been telling my wife for ever that eventually “my winnings” would benefit our family and balance the cost I've put into equipment, travel, entry fees, etc. It's good to be right!
