Rob's Rides

First, Today Terry, (Tim A. his friend Owen for awhile) had an amazing mtn. bike ride. Between the sun and the fun riding I am starting to get the cycling bug again. We rode from Camels back up Three Bears. Then we went down Watchman to Five mile, back up to three bears and ripped the downhill.up Once back to the Freeway we road Sidewinder and back down via Redcliffs. Terry and I are both loving our Spearfish's (Thanks Paul!)

Wed: 3:45 road ride leaving from my house. About a couple of hours.

Thursday: same

Sat: While the forecast calls for a 30% chance of a "few showers" I would like to do a big road ride meeting at my house at 7:00. I would like to get a big crew and ride 60-70ish miles. A couple of ideas have been thown out. The Horseshoe Bend-Emmett loop and Riding out to Middleton and then into Emmett. I am happy with either, but I would vote for the option that would get the most people to join the ride.

In - with a catch

Terry, Tony, Steve and I (aka, the defending Team Reel LP 200 champions and favorites for 2011) had talked about doing an LP 200 training ride this Saturday, and spending some time working on pacelines, etc. Assuming my team agrees, I think a good 60-70 miler with a larger group would be good. My vote would be the horseshoe / emmett loop, but I agree, I'll do whatever yields the greatest participation.

"I can see for miles and miles..."

I'd feel better on a CX bike for Dirt Bag Dash. (which, I don't own a CX bike.)

I'm in for miles. My vote is the out to Emmett by the 'back door' route (same as Rob's second choice.)
Here: ---> MapMyRide Link
I thought it to be a little longer than about 63ish miles (my bike odometer gets 66+ so it must fudge it a bit) but it's a bunch of solid miles with no options to feign your fitness on a slow hill climb. It's all group and paceline stuff with wind and all.

The HSB to Emmett is only a tad longer (between 10-12 more miles?) being in the 70-some mile range with good climbs but hey, you can't count the 5 miles of coasting at 40mph down into HSB can you? This ride I've done west to Emmett is solid leg miles which is my vote over steep climbs. Although my ego may get stroked by some of the climbing to HSB depending on who's on the ride with me. ;-) Like, if Matt M. and their champion LP200 team are on the ride, I've got no chance to look awesome on the climbs.

I'm Game

Like Matt said, our team talked about a ride where we could practice pacelining and this seems to fit the bill great. I've never done the Middleton to Emmett loop so that appeals to me but I will go with the majority vote. I went out for about an hour and forty five minutes today and it was perfect. This great weather better continue.
