09/17/08 3:30ish Mountain Bike Ride. I am thinking up Sweet Connie to Stack Rock and back down.
09/18/08 4:00ish at Eagle Island for an hourish cross ride.
09/19/08 4:00 approx. 2hr. road ride leaving from my house in Hobble Creek.
09/20/08 Around 7:00 or 7:30a.m. I was thinking either mountain bike or heading out to Eagle Island again for another group Cross ride. While a big mountain bike ride sounds more fun, a cross ride might be more beneficial with the first cross race a week away. Last week we had 10 guys at the cross ride, which raises the fun factor a ton.
Cross practice at eagle island
Are you guys going down to practice at Eagle Island tonight? Eric is still very sore from hiking Borah, but I was thinking of coming out still. I just want to go where there are people that I know. Since I bet Nate is still sore also, Eagle Island is the only place where I know guys.
Eagle Island
There will be cross practice every Tuesday night out there for a while. I can't make it tonight I don't think since I have a back to school thing at Centenial. I know Paul is heading out there. Anybody else?
I'll be there.
I was thinking about riding down, so I may not have my barriers. But I'll be at Eagle Island, it's much closer for me, and like the terrain better.
Pretty good turn-out
There were about 8 folks out there, including Paul and 2 guys he recently sold cross bikes to. I think they were all planning on heading out there on Tuesday nights for the next few weeks.
Brad Graybeal brought 2 barriers and set them up off the back stretch, so it was another good practice.
Saturday
I can make the Saturday ride for once. I want to give 'cross a go this fall and may just throw some cross tires on my 29er until I get a real cross bike built up.
I'm also wondering if I can convince some of you guys to pace me up Bogus Basin one of these days. I'd like to try for a new personal best in the next couple of weeks and know I could go faster if I had some help (Tom, Rob, Matt?).

post ride debrief & Sat Cross
Tim Anderson and I had a great mountain bike ride last night. We rode up Sweet Connie and then to Stack Rock. Of course we took the time to climb to the top of the rock; Fantastic night up there. The ride down was fun and safe, and it is always great to ride in the trees. I am planning on going to Eagle Island Saturday Morning, it would be great to have a big group again. "You can do It!"
Sat. Ride
I will not be able to join in the fun this weekend. Mel is doing the Womens Fitness Celebration so I will be down watching her. But have fun. I am going to try to get there this afternoon.
ride trails between stack and bogus
I think we ought to get a group of guys to go up there and ride those trails between stack rock and up and around bogus sometime *soon*, before the weather turns too cold. I've really never been up there before so I was shocked, SHOCKED at what I had been missing. I'm assuming there is more than what I saw, but what I witnessed was beautiful, forested, and shady trails, the leaves changing colors, there's a wonderful fall smell in the air up there, and I love riding on that tacky, loamy forest dirt. When Rob and I got up there it was absolutely perfect riding temp, it was pristine riding conditions. Has anybody explored extensively up there?
Upper Trails
I have spent a lot of time up there riding and love it I wouldn't mind getting up there before the snow comes and do a series of trails. There are a lot. If somebody wants to set something up I will try to get up there and do it.
Thursday at EI
Hey Rob, I think today should work out well -- I'll see you down there tonight.
Cross practice thursday
Rob et al,
Unforunately, I won't make it to the CX practice tonight, but I'll try to join you for the road ride Friday at 4pm, and of course the cx practice on sat morning.
Change of plans, I repeat Change of plans!!!
While at Eagle Island on Thursday we realized that the Bob Firman crosscountry race is taking place this Saturday. Races are all day from morning to afternoon. So we need to go someplace else.
I propose the newish park in Eagle, right off of Hill Road. There are some places to do run ups, and I some good open areas to get up to speed.
For those leaving from Hobble Creek lets meet at my place at 7:00 (sun up is at 7:27) and be at the park by 7:30.
True Cross Weather
We had a pretty good turn out for our Wet and Wild Cross practice Sat. Morning. Wayne, Tim D., Tom, Matt, Ladd, and Rob braved the elements. It was fun to get wet and primed up for cross conditions. The park worked fairly well for our workout, sand, grass, pavement, and a killer dirt hill to run/walk up, especially when the dirt turned to slippery mud (read face plant):) Hard to believe next week is our first Local Cross race.
