Ahh man!
That race sounds really fun... wish it wasn't the same day as Barking Spider though as I'm sure most of us will be doing that instead.
Miss in out race
Yeah, if I am ready to try a race, it would be barking spider for me. Especially that early in the season.
IF?!
It's time to lock those goals down for the season... it's 2 months away. :) heh Come ride with us on Sat Brad!
I agree!
Brad -- you've got to come. It sounds like we chould have pretty good crew out there!
I would be
Barking Mad to miss Barking Spider this year. Sounds like we'll have quite a crew there!
We'll see
My problem is, I just don't care about the racing part much anymore. I am more interested in riding to have fun and stay in shape so I am happy when I look in the mirror when I get out of the shower...
My competitive drive is waaay down inside I guess. Suffering isn't so much fun anymore and I tend to just let up when it starts to hurt too much, I don't feed on it like I once did. I just don't care if I win a race ever again but who knows, maybe I will find some motivation once I start back into it again.
I will shoot for participating in this race though. I doubt I will do well, but I never did. I hate the early spring races, I am not much into suffering in the crappy weather to be in shape in March, April and May. I will probably ride on Saturday but as of now, with no family obligations, I will be waiting until it gets warmer. If anyone else feels like waiting until the afternoon to ride let me know. I need to find my bikes in the room somewhere, pump up my tires again and see if I can remember how to shift, etc. Have fun in the cold though ;)
I hear ya...
Easiest way I've found to cure the motivation problem is to just ride. Once you're out there you remember how great it is and that it actually is fun. :) It's really hard for me to get fired up when I've been sitting on my butt for month after month as it seems like there's no point, but once I ride a few times, I feel like riding more and the circle begins. Like tomorrow... I mean who wants to get up in the 5's to go mountain biking anyway? But once we get riding there are never regrets, as I'm sure we'll have a blast on the fast frozen trails.
I think I'm finally into a semi-good groove for this season and hope to start ramping things up slow. I'd like to try to be in "shape" for Lyle Pearson and Elkhorn since those are both going to suck if I suck. Those races are both going to come up fast as they always seem to catch me off guard. If I plan to show up at some races by April then maybe I'll actually be ready to roll by June... we will see. :)
I hope all the Elkhorn talk that went down earlier wasn't fluff from everyone as I'm trying to steer my season towards it. Game on!
Elkhorn
Yeah, I need to get in the grove. Those 2 races will be the first where hopefully I will not be in too bad of shape at by then. One thing for sure though, I don't care enough to freeze anymore. I will just wait until its warmer outside and if that means I am slow, well I will always feel slower and slower as the years go by so....
Oh, and I am planning on doing the Elkhorn race as well. I see Harris has a good excuse to bail out but hopefully not the rest of you all.
