Here are mine so far for the entire year... stops and/or breaks are not counted in these totals. Also, this is 100% bike... I haven't tracked anything else, not that I've done anything else though either. I'm a nerd with lots of data. :)
I've been trying very hard this year to bump up my hours and get in better shape, so I hoped to be getting stronger... On the other hand, you'll see that it's not for a lack of trying!
In my spreadsheet, I track to the 1/10th of an hour (6 minute increments). I also track any outdoor rides (not broken out in this list), indoor rides (could be either trainer, spin class, or rollers), and other stuff (weights, Yoga class, jogging with the kids, or anything that can remotely be called exercise). Here's the result:
So the hours are there -- I'm hoping the speed will follow! On the other hand, I'm having a great time, especially when Rob and I hit the skills park with the new mountain bikes, so that's probably the important thing.
You guys are all nerds. Keeping tracking of your hours. I mean come on. Here are my stats.
Year to Date = 5 hours.
I really don't know but I will start keeping track.
So if I can keep up my current trends I'm def on a much better track than in 2008... check out my month to month. I'm going to try to keep it consistent this year.
I have 3 rides for Oct... two races Sandy Point & Eagle Island and one mid-week ride... that's it. I fell off the bus this fall for sure. I maybe forgot to log something but it sounds right to me... :)
eerily accurate record keeping there brad! ironically mine looks just about the same. been hittin the skate park w/ jr. though, not sure if that counts for much other than being the dorky old guy w/ 80's style ramp board and a helmet!
I got an 8th place finish in the road race this weekend and a 2nd place in the crit. To my credit, my team had a rider in the break that stayed away in the road race and I wasn't going to chase so that hurt my placing. In the crit I was off the front for a few laps and some dude countered as soon as I got caught. I didn't have enough to match his attack and he stayed gone. I won the field sprint.
While I was officially out mountain biking for 36:19:07 last week, only for 17:05:05 of it were the wheels actually spinning. About 5hrs of that was pushing my bike though in what could very easily lay claim the worst "ride" EVER. That's a whole other story though. :)
I've got another 11 hours to log for last week. But remember I've got race-pace miles in there!!!
Now for the weekend race update:
My team won the team time trial and we passed two teams, one of which was the second place team. I got a fourth place finish in the crit plus I won two points primes. The road race didn't go so well though. I bridged up to my teammate in a solo break. At one point we had three minutes on the field, but after 35 miles off the front we ran out of gas and the field started chasing like crazy. They ended up catching us with around 10 miles to go, but only after dropping most of the field. There were 8 riders left when we go caught, I held on for a couple miles but ended up going off the back. Two of the remaining riders were my teammates. They finished 4th and 5th. We are in a close points battle with Wester Washington University for 1st place in the points standing, and I am 4th or 5th in the individual points.
Since we were all in Moab, we all had about the same ride time. More fun a person could not have!!!! Excepting of course our Bear Grillis survival march through some of Moab's most rugged terrain at O dark thirty. Hey, at least we have a story to tell.
Let's revive this thread in Matt's honor since we can't keep up with his daily century rides! :) So... how's it looking for the year? I've got a whopping 1 hr in Jan and 6.5 hrs so far in Feb, but I'm on the ramp.
Rob's crazy like that. He'll bust out 11hrs in a week and he doesn't even have to start his week on Sunday or Monday like normal people. He starts it when he wants to, on Saturday! He's so "on track" that he logs his hours into the future... so back off.
Last week: 5
4th Week Feb: 0 hours (sick most of the week and busy watching the Olympics! )
I want to get into shape this year but overall my racing goals are to, get into shape this year. So mostly I plan to ride when I want to, 2nd goal would be to not be burned out by riding too much and passing up on other things in life so that I want to race cross this year. Want to go to Bend and have fun with everyone.
This could be interesting.

I don't totally buy it...
From Oct-Dec, you only got in 3 hours of 'cross time? C'mon, I know you missed a bunch, but I hope you're missing some hours in there somewhere.
Also, I can tell what that August spike was -- Ride Idaho!
And for March, you've already got 9+ hours, plus Moab coming up? Sweet!
True Story
I have 3 rides for Oct... two races Sandy Point & Eagle Island and one mid-week ride... that's it. I fell off the bus this fall for sure. I maybe forgot to log something but it sounds right to me... :)
