I found this website http://www.walzcaps.com/caps_personalized.html on velonews.com. I really like their cycling caps, very stylish! I may buy one for myself, but was wondering if their was enough interest to have them make custom team caps. How many, if any, would be interested in this?
List of who is interested:
Rob - 1 cotton, 1 wool - size S/M
Eric - 1 cotton, 1 wool - size L/XL
Brad - 1 ? - size S/M
Nate - 1 wool - size L/XL
Ladd - 1 cotton, 1 wool - size S/M
Steve - 1 wool - 1 cotton size S/M
Bob - 2 cotton, 2 wool - size S/M
Dan - 1 cotton, 1 wool - size S/M
Terry - 1 cotton, 1 wool - size L/XL
Jamie - 1 wool - size S/M
Tony - 1 wool - size S/M
Tom - 1 ? - size L/XL
Cool
Yeah I'm game for one of them. If we just add the personalized text to the sides of any of their stock hats we wouldn't even have to get a group together. Maybe pick one of the hat's with colors that are close is all. But yeah, if we've got interest it would be sweet to get a batch of Team Reel caps too!
Good quality caps
I have one of their wool caps. It's great quality, I really like it and wear it all winter. My only complaint is that they originally had 1 size (now they've added a bigger one) but it's a little big for me.
But I'd still order one if folds were going in on it.
Cool2
I'm also game, assuming they fit my enormous heed.
I like the hats
I would be up for that as well.
The Word from Walz
I spoke with Michael from Walz caps and he gave me some info for ordering custom caps.
*For an order of 12-24 there is a 20% discount.
*He needs a J-Peg of our logo and any wording. We might need Tom's mad skills.
*There is a one time $60 digitizing fee for embroidery. We would then divide that number by the number of caps and add that amount to each initial cap. After the first order each cap would be less expensive.
*For each location we place our logo it is $3.60.
*We can mix and match types of caps.
*Based on an order of 12 cotton "racing" (I personally prefer the wool "racing" cap which are a little more expensive) with only one logo, the cost for each cap is $22.90. This includes spreading the initial $60 fee over the 12 caps.
*On the cotton caps the logo can only go on the side. The other materials will allow you to place the logo on the front.
Let's get together and see if we have at least 12 of us who are interested and how we want to proceed.
caps
I am in for a cap. Although I would prefer a wool cap I could be persuaded to go cotton if someone had a strong preference for that fabric.
Steve
I'm in
and I prefer the wool. Rob, why don't you update a list in your original post of who is interested. That way it would be easy to keep track of who's on board and if we're getting close...
Out
I know you guys are trying to get this and Rob was going to volunteer me but I have 3 caps that I were maybe one per year so count me out.
Team Caps!
I think both the wool and cotton sound nice depending on the weather. I may be in for one of each actually. Also, my dad would like to add 2 wool & 2 cotton onto the list... so we've got to be getting close to 12 now.
If we can match the colors to what we are currently using and get the Reel logo on there then Reel Theatres is willing to sponsor half of the costs. With Reel covering half of the costs, I don't think it unreasonable for the club to purchase enough items to get us up to the minimum and keep them in club inventory for future purchases.
I wonder if they could send out a color swatch that we could match up to our current clothing the best possible.
Rob, if you want to head this up I'm all for it! :) We'll likely have to get Tom to create some sort of condensed "Team Reel" logo of sorts to fit in a more square space.
Think we can get em before Bend? Probably pushing it...
Right On.
That is certainly generous of our awesome sponsor! With that in mind I would probably get a cotton and a wool cap. I did speak with Michael about color options and I think we can probably do it and hopefully by Bend. I have called him again to find out more details on this. I will also get with Tom and have him put somehting together with the Reel Theatre logo. Would anyone else want both cotton and wool?
Cotton and wool
If we can only do one style, then I'm voting for the wool. If we can mix it up, then I'd also sign up for one of each.
Let's bring them to Bend!
mix it up
Michael is being great to work with.
*We can mix and match
*He is willing to do a special batch of caps with our colors.
we could either go royal blue with a black racing stripe (which I think I would vote for) or black with a royal blue racing stripe.
*If we can get our logo sent to Michael by early next week he said he would make sure he got our caps done by Cross Nats.
*Tom said he had the logo and could e-mail it to Michael.
Are we thinking the Reel Theatre logo with "Reel Theatre Cycling Club" stitched on the cap?
Sounds Great!
I also like the idea of blue with a black stripe.
In the past we've always used Team Reel, Team Reel Theatre, or Treasure Valley Cycling Club so I think sticking to one of those on the side text would be good.
I'd like it to say Team Reel somewhere though, so if the logo up front is only our actual movie reel with no text then I think Team Reel or Team Reel Theatre on the sides sounds perfect. If we fit the entire Reel logo up front with our name on it already... then I'd vote the other way with Treasure Valley Cycling Club on the sides. If that makes sense. :)
Try one on for size?
Like I mentioned before, I have a wool cap from these guys, so you could try it out for sizing. I have a very small head, and their S/M is maybe a touch larger than I would like. But they also have a larger size for anyone with a gargantuan head.
Mine is black with a gray stripe and I'm trying to imagine it with a logo. I think the logo on one side with the "Team Reel Theatre" on the other would look the best. I'm not sure how the logo would look on the front over the stripe. (But I'll defer to Tom and anybody else who could visualize it better.)
It will be cool to have these at nat's.
Sign me up!
I would go for a wood and cotton cap myself. Not sure if you need sizes before ordering. I am usually a Medium to Large cap size, but I tried on Ladd's S/M cap last night and it felt about right.
Sizing?
I'd take one - did anyone figure out sizing? I think my Stetson caboy hat is a 7.
Caps
After being rebuked by Rob yesterday for not being active on the forum I am here to repent and add a wool and a cotton cap to the order if its not too late. If I'm too late than bummer for me. There you go Rob. I hope that makes you happy. : )
I am
Remember, Big brother knows best:)
Update
I spoke w/ Tom over the weekend and he said he had the logo info and would e-mail it to Walz early this week.
Girls two cents
I would like a wool one too. I would also vote for royal blue with a black racing stripe, the other way would look like a skunk. Could we get our green in there too somehow?
The ball is roll'n
O.K. we are moving along with our order. If you go to Walz website there is some info to help you decide which size to purchase. If you can let me know ASAP that would be helpful as we are getting the ball roll'n. Also Brad and Nate, how many and what type of caps would you like?
Nice
One wool please, as big as they come.
Sizing
Here's the info on the two sizes they offer:
Small/Medium (original size)
Head (inches) 19 1/2" - 22 1/4"
Hat Size 6 1/4 - 7 1/8
Large/Extra Large
Head (inches) 22 5/8" - 23 7/8"
Hat Size 7 1/4 - 7 5/8
I need smaller. . .
I'd like to be in, but I have a kid's sized head, so unless they make these in child's sizes I'm sure the S/M is going to be too big.
Let the jokes fly. . .
Size and type
I think I will try a small/med wool cap
The order has been placed.
I need to know ASAP (read today into that) what type and size some of you would like. Tom, Steve, Dan, Brad and then anyone else who thinks they are interested.
To Late?
Sorry so late, If you can add a S/M wool onto the order that would rock!
Update
Mic hael from Walz caps sent us a few pics of the caps for our approval. Both he, Eric and myself suggested a couple of minor changes which it looks like they can impliment and have shipped by tomorrow. In short we should have them in plenty of time for Bend! Giddy-Up. I am usually not one to brag, but I must say, I think we will be look'n good at Nationals, not to mention the talk of the town locally.
OH yes
Lookin' good will be vital since I've already missed the boat on racin' good. :)
the caps
Great work Rob, Eric and Tom!
