In the late summer I was trying to get ready for cross and was going out on rides on my road bike. I was running the standard Mich Pro 3 race tires. During every single ride I was getting flats. It was driving me crazy. I have stack of about 10 tubes sitting in my garage for me to patch up as spares. I decided I was going to try to convert my road wheels to tubeless. Stans sells a tubeless conversion kit for road wheels. I ordered one up and put them on. The conversion was nice and easy. But the real reason for doing this post is to just do a little product review. The hutchinson tires ride amazing. They are extremely comfortable and plush. I went on a ride yesterday. Matt Hanson and I road west on the Green belt from Glenwood. It turns into a dirt trail about half mile down. That dirt lasts all the over to Eagle road. Ridding through there I figured I would get a good idea of how these tires hold up and they do. We took a couple wrong turns that put us into some goat heads. I pulled 3 out of my tires and had no flats. We changed both of Matts tubes.
So I guess what I am saying if you are in the need of new tires maybe you would look at converting your current tires o tubeless. I know Meridian Cycles carries all the stuff needed for a good conversion. Pull the trigger because you will not regret it.
Good Info
That is my plan as soon as I recover from the holiday expenses. Luckily my current tires are about shot and I will need to get new tires anyway so the exspense wil not be that much more.
Update
Just a quick update. that section of the greenbelt Ii found out today is not open to bikes.
Thanks for the info
I am definitely going to look into this - after the flats I had during the LP 200 and since then - on brand new tires - I would really like something that I could count on. Will they work on my Easton EA70 wheels?
EA70
They should work with those wheels. I haven't tried it on those, but I know it is pretty universal.
Tubeless Road
I love tubeless road, only had 1 flat and that was from a huge nail otherwise they are awesome.
Nice
I'm done with tubes and planning to convert.
Agreed
I've been running tubes with Stans sealant, which works well but I still flatted about 10 times in 3 weeks in October/late November. I've been planning on converting. Glad to hear good reviews.
