Howdy

Hello, all. It feels a little odd writing a blog I'm not sure anyone will take the time to read. :-) but I might as well keep record of my season somewhere. My name is Chris Haskell, this is my second full year of competitive road cycling, and I'm 39 years old. At the beginning of this season I am a CAT 4. Since I reached this level by starts alone (not points), I don't anticipate making the move anytime soon. I think it's more likely they'll move from a Masters 35+B to a Masters 45+B first. I haven't done any mountain biking or cyclocross yet but doubt that I can avoid it with this group. We'll see about converting a steel look like I have into a cross bike this fall.

Although I'm old, I'm also racing the competitive collegiate season for Boise State this spring. I'm a doctoral student and was talked into racing for the University by a handful of the young bucks on that squad in much the same way I was coerced by our friend Mr. Deeble to join this group. My first race with the university team is this weekend, an omnium in Portland. Although the races fall on Saturdays and Sundays, I won't race the second day. Likely, I'll take the opportunity to go and visit a ward nearby while the others race. In most cases though, I'll be able to get two races in each weekend for the next month and a half. I look at it as a way to prepare for the local season and gain experience.

I hope to find others willing to do some road racing this spring. I'm not sure how many folks are in that odd CAT 4 group, but I look forward to meeting you and doing some rides and races.

I must say, the kits are fabulous! I picked it up yesterday and can't take my eyes off it. I think it's the best looking kit around.

Old Friends

Chris and I are old friends. Well, we have been friends for a long time but I guess we are also now "old" friends. I am excited to have him join our club and believe me, he will fit in with this crazy group just fine. I can't wait to have him join us on some of our awesome biking trips.
