Voler Bibs Wearing Out?

Anyone else notice their Voler bibs wearing out quickly? I bought two pairs of this years - the ones with the new chamois (can't remember what they are called, but they are the more expensive material). Both pairs have quite a bit of wear (to the point that after my ride today one pair is now worn out) right in the inner thigh. Now I know I'm a bit bigger than most of you, but I've never had this happen with another pair of bibs before. Anyone else having the same problem or is it just me?

saddle bag???

Inner thigh wearing out sounds like you are rubbing the velcro strap on your saddle bag.

That could be it

Saddle bag could be it. I was also thinking maybe there is something on my saddle. I'll check both. Its either that or I really am way to fat!

I had that problem once

My saddlebag would catch enough to cause wear, but not enough to notice. I took a piece of velcro and just covered up the loop part, and haven't had the problem since.

Hmmm...

I wonder if some of the problem is actually the elite fabric. I question it as I have a skinsuit in the elite fabric from last year that is very worn and even kindof pilled up right where the seat hits it. Maybe that fabric isn't as tough against anything rubbing it? I'll have to check my bibs from this year closer but I think they're still ok. If several people do have a problem I'm sure Voler would like us to bring it to their attention though.

It is the elite fabric

On mine that caused the problem. I noticed piling initially and didn't think much of it until I had a hole after my ride yesterday. I did switch saddle bags before LP, so that could be part of the problem, but I had the piling and wear showing before that as well.

Bibs

I was riding with Rob last week and noticed the inside of my right thigh was rubbing on the velcro of my saddle bag and the fabric was showing a little wear. I adjusted the velcro and no problems since. Is it on the inner right thigh like mine? If so I would bet that it's the velcro. Lets hope it's not a defect. That would def be a bummer.

Not wearing out, but see through

I haven't noticed the fabric wearing out, but I have noticed that in the right light conditions the fabric is transparent. Despite the goofy lines, I no longer ride bonzai with these.

TMI, I know. . .

Transparent Elite Fabric

Hey, just an FYI on the elite fabric that some have mentioned is a bit transparent. I've got word from Voler on the topic for our new order.

"All orders using Elite fabric shipping after Jan 1st 2011 use a new fabric. This is a reworked version of the Elite fabric from last year. A higher thread count and a change in the diameter of the fibers improve the micro-waffle compression and opacity. Superior sun protection provides an SPF rating of 50+."

I'm not sure if it's just as normal as the regular fabric now... but it does sound improved relative to prior elite fabric anyway.

I think it was the saddle bag

I put a new bag on last week and just looked and noticed a fairly sharp edge on the right side. I'm sure that was the culprit. Just took off the bag. I hope that was it.

And I agree with Matt's post - my wife keeps telling me our bibs are see through. But I guess I don't care because I keep riding commando.

Saddle bag

I have stopped wearing a saddle bag because of that reason. I tried to throw on my new LP200 bag this weekend, but felt it rubbing again and promptly pulled it off. Some of us have WAY too much leg muscle to run a seat bag.

interesting...

I wondered if those tree-trunks you called thighs caused you any problems... :)

I dunno about you skinny

I dunno about you skinny guys but my legs rub together when I walk, and they certainly graze my seat post. I figured this thing out about saddle bags years ago. They put pockets on the back of our jerseys ya know??? use them!!
