Just to get the dialogue flowing on some ride ideas for tomorrow, how does a Bogus Hill climb sound to the group, leaving at 6:00 AM from Hobble Creek? We could meet up with anyone at the base of Bogus in the LDS parking lot by simplot by 6:30.
For those training for the warm lake challenge, we could possible ride home via cartright or something.
Thoughts?
Too early for me
I am considering doing a long ride up to Idaho City and back, we have distributors in town from France and the UK so I will probably be out late tonight but hoping to ride tomorrow around 9ish or so before it gets too hot.
The late crew
Is leaving the North End for Idaho City around 12:30. Bring on the heat!
mmm... heat!
I'm in for the heat ride.
"Heat Ride" Part 2
Ladd needed a recovery ride (he had only ridden 53 miles this morning) so he and Steve Olsen and I did 41 miles starting about 4:30 pm. My porch thermometer read 96 when we left and 92 when we returned. Earlier today I saw Nate and Eric chugging up Hwy 21 almost to Hilltop. We were on our way back from scouting out trails up in the hills for an upcoming Pioneer Trek. I tried to convince trek organizers that I could ride my mtn bike on the trek if I decorated it like a horse. That was a no go...
That heat was brutal!
My Garmin reported a max of 105F. We cut the ride a bit short and went to Arrowrock Dam and back. We took a break at Spring Shores Marina and managed to drink a full gallon of water.
That ride had crossed my mind
Sounds good. As long as I can drag myself out of bed I'd love to get pulled to Bogus. Then when you get tired of waiting for me at the Bogus parking lot, just come back down and I'll catch your wheel for the ride home!
One other thought -- what about starting at Camelbak on the mountain bikes, ride Hard Guy or something up to the Ridge Road, head over to Bogus, ride the loop around the hill, come back down Eastside / Sweet Connie?
Sounds good, but. . .
Actually, I'd prefer to do a mountain ride tomorrow, but Paul's replacing the bushings on my pivots and I'm out of a mtn bike until Tuesday. . . unless I take him up on his offer to "demo" one of his 29-ers. Whoa, that could be dangerous. But, I'm not sure I could be there to pick it up by closing time tonight. I probably need to stick with the road bike tomorrow, unless you want to do hard guy on the CX?
Don't tempt me --
You know I'm a sucker for stupid ride ideas!
I just talked to Rob. He likes it, and we're strongly in favor of a 7:00 departure. That would push me from "probably" to "certainly" in for the ride. Sounds good?
Saturday Ride
I would rather do a road ride just to keep prepping for Twilight. I know Rob's mtn bike is out of commission too. Rob and I are game for climbing Bogus as well but if you we could meet at 7:00 that would be much better for me since I work nights. What do you guys think?
Okay, okay. . .
7:00 it is. I may need to peel off a little early to get me back for a 10 AM commitment, but that will give us some good climbing together. See you then!
Rob, can I volunteer your house as the official meeting point?
I'm leaving my house at 6:00 am
By car to the base. That should give me enough time to get up and back to my house by 8:30. We have some help coming over at 9:00 am to move some stuff for us. And it will give me just enough time to not get passed by you all on the climb - if I'm lucky.
Location dependent?
Looks like you can decide where to live based on when you like to ride! Rob, Terry, Tim, and I took off at 7:00. We met Matt on the way (he'd already been out riding). Then Jason passed us driving home from his ride. So we had 6 guys on Bogus Rd. from HC, plus I heard Tom and Don had left early for a ride. Then you have the North Enders and Meridianites who leave more at noon-ish. Cool!
Anyway, that was my first time up Bogus this year, so I had a great ride. I hope everybody else's ride is also fun.
